Don’t we all have dreams? What happens when we are robbed of our dreams? Well, Schizophrenia is robbing young adults like us of their dreams. I would like to inform you about what is schizophrenia and about three psychotic symptoms that young adults usually develop from it.
Let me start by saying the definition of schizophrenia. According to Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate dictionary schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder characterized by loss of contact with the environment, by noticeable deterioration in the level of functioning in everyday life, and by disintegration of personality expressed as disorder of feeling, thought, perception, and behavior.
Now let me tell you about three psychotic symptoms of schizophrenia. The First psychotic symptoms are delusions. Delusions are one of the most common symptoms young adults develop. One common experience of delusions is that they believe that they are Jesus or the Virgin Mary. They also believe that they can read other people’s mind.
The second psychotic symptoms of schizophrenia affecting young adults are Hallucinations. Just like delusions, hallucinations are one of the most common symptoms in schizophrenia. These hallucinations can be auditory. A person might hear things that are totally invisible to others or a person might hear voices of people that are not real. A person with schizophrenia can also have visual hallucinations. Visual hallucinations though are not that common in people with schizophrenia. According to MD. Elizabeth J. Roberts “if a person’s reports of visual hallucinations than it should raise your suspicions that drugs may be involved.”
The third psychotic symptom of schizophrenia affecting young adults is disorganized speech. This symptom is not as common as the other two but it happens often to people. A person with this symptom might talk about one topic and than without stopping might talk about a whole new different topic. MD. Elizabeth J. Roberts summarizes this by saying “In midsentence, they suddenly seem to just stop their train of thought and jump to an entirely unrelated topic without even pausing.
In conclusion Schizophrenia is a mental illness with the presence of psychotic symptoms that affect young adults. Due to these symptoms these people can’t reach their dreams because they aren’t mentally fit. I want to end by saying “People with schizophrenia are people and they shouln’t be treated any different than us because they too use to have dreams like us.”
IT WAS A WHILE BEFORE BRITNEY TRIED TO DO SOMETHING WILD TO APPEAR IN THE MEDIA. THIS TIME SHE IS PROMISING TO CANCEL HER 33 DAY TOUR IF SHE CAN’T TAKE HER KIDS WITH HER. ACCORDING TO BANG MEDIA INTERNATIONAL SHE IS WILLING TO PAY HER EX-HUSBAND, KEVIN FEDERLINE, $4,000 A WEEK SO THAT SHE CAN STAY WITH HER KIDS WHILE ON TOUR. THE FUNNY THING IS THAT HE IS NOT ACCEPTING THE PROPOSAL. IF I COULD GET THAT TON OF MONEY ESPECIALLY WITH THIS ECONOMY I WOULD DEFINITELY ACCEPT HER PROPOSAL. IT ISN’T LIKE SHE’S NOT THE MOTHER OF THOSE KIDS, SO WHAT HARM CAN IT BE FOR HER TO SPEND THAT TIME WITH THEM. OR IS IT REALLY SOMETHING SAFE?
If only we could all donate our organs, then a lot of lives can be saved. Imagine a total stranger who is in the waiting list for an organ transplant, would you donate your organs to help that person. That’s why I am here to persuade you to donate your organs after death because you can save someone’s life, most major religions support it and medical ethics shouldn’t be a concern.
The most important reason to consider this is because you’ll be helping someone live a longer life. Donating your organs is consider to be the gift of life because you’ll be giving someone a new stomach, liver, or kidney and most of these people will go on to live a longer and successful life. According to David Petechuk and other doctors the survival rate of a patient getting an organ transplant is between 80-90 percent. That’s way better than a 10-20 percent survival rate without a transplant. Also according to David Petechuk every year there are over 28,000 organ transplants performed in the United States but at the same time there are over 6,000 people dying while waiting for an organ transplant.
If religion is one factor in which over 6,000 people are dying, then don’t let it be.) Most major religions support organ donation just due to the fact that you are trying to help another human being. Some of these religions feel that it is the right thing to do while others feel that this decision is left to the individual itself. Some of these religions are Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and Hinduism. Also, if you still aren’t sure you can ask the closest religious authority in your area. So now that you know this don’t let religion be a factor in your decision to donate organs.
But some of us don’t use religion as a factor instead it is because of the concern we have about medical ethics. By this I mean that some of us feel that our doctors will not try to save our lives knowing that we are registered to donate our organs. This is not true and according to wisegeek.com doctors will put all their efforts to save your life because you are their first priority at that time. If all efforts to save you have failed and you are declared dead than the organ recovery process can start. Your survivors though will be contacted before any recovering takes place.
And yes it would be great if you talk this out with your parents before saying yes to organ donation. Now imagine that instead of a total stranger in the waiting list for an organ transplant it is a family member of yours, would you donate your organs for that person. Remember organ donation is a way of saving someone’ life and religion as well as the concern of medical ethics in saving your life shouldn’t be a factor in donating your organs for a good cause. And like the website Donate life Connecticut says “There is no cost to be an organ and tissue donor. Donation is a gift.”
STEELERS WON THEIR RECORD SETTING SIXTH CHAMPIONSHIP ON SUNDAY AGAINST THE TOUGH ARIZONA CARDINALS TO A SCORE OF 27-23. IN THE FOURTH QUARTER THE SCORE WAS 16-20 WITH THE STEELERS LEADING BEFORE KURT WARNER MADE A PASS TO LARRY FITZGERALD, WHO SCORED ONA 64 YARD TOUCHDOWN. THIS GAVE THE CARDINALS THE LEAD AT 23-20 WITH 2:37 LEFT IN THE FOURTH QUARTER. BUT LIKE I SAID BEFORE THE STEELERS AREN’T AFRAID OF SHOWING A DRAMATIC COMEBACK WIN. THAT’S WHEN BEN ROETHLISBERGER MADE A 6 YARD PASS TO SANTONIO HOLMES IN THE RIGHT CORNER OF THE END ZONE TO GIVE THE STEELERS THE LEAD OF 27-23 FOR GOOD WITH 35 SECONDS REMAING IN THE FOURTH QUARTER. STEELERS JAMES HARRISON CAUGHT AN INTERCEPTION AND MADE IT INTO A 100 YARD TOUCHDOWN TO END THE FIRST QUARTER WASN’T ENOUGH TO BEAT SANTONIO HOLMES LATE GAME WINNING CATCH FOR THE MVP TITLE.
